EXCITED WOLMER'S Preparatory School students celebrated United Nations (UN) Day yesterday dressed in an array of colourful, cultural costumes to capture the spirit and diversity of African beauty.

The school held its celebrations under the theme 'African Glory', in commemoration of UN deeming this year the International Year for People of African Descent.

The children brought to life spectacular and informative pieces, representing the African countries of Ethiopia, Madagascar, Rwanda, Egypt, Bostwana and Sierra Leone.

Joining in the celebrations were the Edna Manley School of Dance and Mona High School, while master of ceremonies Leighton Smith added laughter to the affair.

On hand to enjoy the festivities were Umaru Salisu, assistant Nigerian High Commissioner to Jamaica; Shirley Hoyana, first secretary of the South African High Commission; representatives from the Chinese Embassy; among other guests.
