Kartel, Mavado, KES earn Soul Train nominations
Despite his imprisonment, dancehall artiste Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer is still making waves internationally.
Kartel joins reggae crooner Mavado and KES The Band in a list of nominees at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards.
The three have been nominated in the category of Best Caribbean Performance. KES was nominated for their monster hit Wotless. Wotless, which was written by KES and Kerwin Du Bois, won the group the title of 'Groovy Soca Monarch' at the Groovy Monarch competition - one of the most prestigious competitions in the Caribbean.
For the last eight months, the song's catchy lyrics and great melodies have had the fans singing it word for word at every concert.
Other nominees are the-red hot Rihanna for Man Down and Machel Montano's for Bend Over, while Kartel earned the nod for Summer Time, and Mavado's Delilah provided him with a shot at the award.
The Soul Train Music Awards honours the best in black music and entertainment and will air on Sunday, November 27.
