Shane Hudson became the first Jamaican athlete 'on foot' to compete in a track final at a paralympic games when he ran in the T46 200m final in Guadalajara, Mexico, yesterday.
Hudson placed sixth in the event at the Parapan American Games in 23.15 seconds. The gold medal went to Yohansson Nascimento of Brazil in a world record 22.34, silver to Ettiam Calderon of Cuba in 22.54 and the bronze to Raciel Gonzalez of Venezuela in 22.72
The Jamaican will again be in action today at the Telmex Stadium in the 400m final at 2:53 p.m. (Ja time). He is favourite for gold.
In the women's F57-58 discus final yesterday, veteran national representative Sylvia Grant was fourth with a season-best throw of 22.66 metres. Gold went to Roseane Santos of Brazil (30.03m), silver to Angeles Ortiz of Mexico (29.49m) and bronze to American Catherine Callahan (22.68m).
