Jesus wasn't white, stop lying to our children!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Recently, while watching a video clip of a fight between teenage schoolgirls during a netball game, I saw something I am sure many others who saw that video didn't pay much attention to. It was a large mural of what many have come to believe is a picture of Jesus Christ.

This mural, I assume, was conspicuously placed in the middle of the schoolyard for a specific reason.

However, as far as I am concerned, this mural is one big lie, designed and subtly used to brainwash our children to believe something that never existed and will only remain the fallacy and myth that Jesus Christ looked like the person depicted in this mural.

only a likeness

Now, it is written in the Bible that Jesus Christ lived in the Middle East some 2,000 years ago. A mural of this kind could only be contrived by someone who perceived Christ in his own likeness and looked as he did.

Hence, this gives our children the perception that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was a white man. What is the ultimate purpose of this mural in the middle of a schoolyard? It had the pigmentation of a Caucasian and suggests authority over us of African descent.

This suffocates our children's self-esteem, thus sustaining dominance over us. I think the mural should be removed immediately from our public institution. It is deceptive and misrepresents the truth.
