THE OFFICE of Utilities Regulation (OUR) said last Friday that it has received the revised back-billing policy from the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) for its review and approval.

The requirement to submit a revised back-billing policy for the OUR's approval was among a raft of items contained in the directive issued just under a month ago.

The OUR had also directed that within five calendar days of receipt of the office's approval, the JPS must issue the amended back-billing policy and related issues as a code of practice and make it publicly available.

According to the OUR, the directive to the JPS was issued to give effect to recommendations contained in the report titled 'Investigation of the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd Billing and Metering System for Electricity Consumption' which was done by a team led by independent consultant J. Paul Morgan.

The full directive is available on the OUR's website at www.our.org.
