Close social financial gap

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The mandate given to Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller must be interpreted as a signal to close the gap between the haves and the have-nots. Some of the utterances and performance of some detractors are not credible.

These programmes, whether they are called JEEP, go-cart, cow cart or horse and buggy, are necessary because if those of us who consider ourselves all right do not stop and think again, we may have a rude awakening.

George William Gordon did not make himself different from Paul Bogle. The fact of the matter is that people need to send their children to school and put bread on their tables.
