Jazz & Blues wasn't all bad

THE EDITOR, Sir:

There have been several letters of complaint about some challenges at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival. Let me just say that despite a few inconveniences, it was an awesome experience for me.

For those who contend the festival does not generate economic activity that justifies government support, I encourage a close inspection of the benefit afforded to local food vendors, hotels from Ocho Rios to Hanover, printers, skilled labourers, the members of the Taxi Association of Jamaica, Knutsford Express, JUTC, etc.

The atmosphere at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium was very festive. This event is one of few that use the maximum available facilities at this venue each year. The show on and off stage was truly entertaining, with very creative booth displays. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

On my departure at the end of the show, I had a lengthy wait to exit the venue, like so many others. However, having engaged the services of the Knutsford Express, a service provided through collaboration with the organisers of the event, my wait was quite comfortable. I had refreshments and slept while a trained and responsible driver manoeuvred his vehicle back to Kingston.

I am truly pleased with my experience and very proud of a world-class production. Let us support the good things we have in Jamaica.
