THE EDITOR, Sir:
I find it disingenuous every time the Church argues about gambling of any sort.
There are two reasons for this.
1. Bingo is a very integral part of many churches' fund-raising. Is it not gambling?
2. Religion is, in and of itself, the greatest gamble any human being can engage in. You gamble obedience, devotion and one-tenth of your earnings on the chance of gaining riches of 'milk and honey' after you die.
As it relates to taxation, I have noticed that many churches' names now end with 'Inc'. Therefore, as incorporated entities, they should be made to pay their 33.33 per cent tax on their profit.
