Motherwell winger Omar Daley is hopeful that a move to the Scottish Premier League team will keep him in contention for a spot among Jamaica's Reggae Boyz when the national team kicks off their World Cup qualification campaign in June.

Daley has been in fairly decent form for the Scottish team since joining the club from Bradford City last season. The wide player has scored three goals in 18 appearances but has proved a constant threat to opposition teams.

Despite a promising start to his career at Bradford, following a serious knee injury, Daley found first-team football hard to come by and failed to make any impression after rejoining the squad from a loan spell at Rotherham United last season. However, the players hopes the move to Scotland will revitalise his career and lead to a recall to the national team.

"I still want to be in the Jamaican national team and I am looking to go to the World Cup in 2014.We have qualifiers in the summer," Daley told Scottish publication Express (express.co.uk).

With the national team having lost their last five games in a row, and a promise by head coach Theodore Whitmore of a squad shake-up, Daley, who has represented the national team at several levels, could very well be a consideration.

Wonder strike

The winger has not represented the team since the Concacaf Gold Cup last year, where he scored a wonder strike against Grenada in the first round. The team was knocked out the competition in the quarter-final stage.

"I think that coming to Motherwell is going to give me the boost and prepare me right. I have been representing my country since I was about 17."

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz will kick off the semi-final round of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) World Cup qualifying competition on June 8, with a home match against Guatemala.

The teams are drawn in Group A alongside the United States and Antigua and Barbuda as well. They will play each team in a home-and-away series, ending with a home contest against Antigua and Barbuda on October 16.
