Vehicles for judges delayed
THE GOVERNMENT is proposing to delay the purchase of motor vehicles for judges due to slower-than-programmed procurement of the automobiles.
Some $27 million, which should have been been used to purchase vehicles for judges will not be spent this fiscal year.
The Government has also indicated that it will not be spending $85 million on the construction and improvement of courthouses this financial year.
The Court of Appeal will receive $11 million less than was originally budgeted. The reduction is "due to unfilled vacancies for positions and expenditure containment".
A similar reduction is to be experienced in the Supreme Court where $15 million of the $172 million which was approved is being withheld.
