Prepping for the UK visa

WESTERN BUREAU:
British High Commissioner Howard Drake transformed the sprawling lawns of his Trafalgar Road residence on Monday night, allowing the media and travel experts front-seat views into visa application requirements for Jamaicans visiting the United Kingdom (UK) this summer.
With the 2012 Olympics clashing with the usual busy summer traffic, High Commissioner Drake is urging locals to apply now and not wait until the last minute.
"Millions of people will visit the UK this year and we want to make it a fantastic experience for our country," he told the gathering, which included a number of persons from the United States Embassy, and Jamaica Olympic Committee's Michael Fennell and wife Peggy.
In fact, as the high commissioner noted, Jamaica will be front, left and centre, as the 100 metres finals will be held a day before the island celebrates its 50th year of Independence.
So, as the UK High Commission commits to offering "very good service" on the visa front, our Social pages bring you highlights of the reception.
