WESTERN BUREAU:

As detectives continue to unravel the homicide of a 17-year-old male whose body was found in Hanover on Sunday, it has emerged that the deceased was a suspect in a murder case in his home parish of St James.

Investigators attached to the Montego Bay Criminal Investigation Branch confirmed that the teenager, identified as Ricardo 'Da Boy' Armstrong of Somerton district in St James, was being investigated for his alleged connection to the murder of Elvis Beckford.

Beckford was reportedly gunned down at his home in Somerton on May 9.

The Gleaner also understands that Armstrong, whose mutilated body was found in Mosquito Cove, Hanover, also had two cases of unlawful wounding pending before the St James Family Court at the time of his death.

Reports are that the Sandy Bay Police Station in Hanover, acting on information, went to Mosquito Cove on Sunday morning where they found the teen's body.

The deceased - a former student of the Spot Valley High School in St James - was seen lying face down with his head partially severed. He also had several other wounds to the body.
