Jesus saved us from law's curse

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Daniel Thwaites has shown in his Sunday Gleaner article ('Gimme that old-time religion') of May 27, 2012 just how depraved and decadent people can be, and have been, down through the ages.

It forced the Almighty to give us instructions to live by which, if broken, carried the death penalty. Aren't we relieved that we didn't live in 'dem olden days'. The good news, however, is that people do not have to fear being stoned when they break these laws because "Yeshua (Jesus) redeemed us from the curse of the law". (Galatians 3:13)

The curse of the law was death, and Yeshua died to set us free from this curse, and NOT to do away with His laws. "He is the Lawgiver and the Judge who is able to save and destroy." (James 4:12 NIV). He said, "If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15 KJV)

Unless people begin to realise that we need to get back to 'old-time religion' and not the traditions of men, our world will only get sicker and sicker.
