THE EDITOR, Sir:
It is very significant that God's design for human sexual relationships is clearly outlined in Genesis 2:21-24 at the beginning of the Bible. God provided Eve as a help-meet for Adam. In doing so, He made it abundantly clear that from creation His ideal was for the existence of male-female sexual relationships.
Genesis chapters 18 and 19 outlines the story of Abraham pleading with God not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, a city that was ridden with homosexuality. God destroyed the city after He sent two angels to physically remove Lot and his family from it. He rained down burning sulphur.
God is holy and cannot tolerate sin. He is also just and must punish sin. The passage 2 Peter 2:5-9 reminds us that God did not spare the ancient world from the flood, nor did He stop Sodom and Gomorrah from being burned to ashes. He made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.
What position should we take on this matter, as a Christian country? If we want God's blessings on Jamaica, we must embrace godly principles and values. We must love the things that God loves, and hate those things that He hates. He loves the sinner, but hates sin.
Violence against persons with homosexual or any other sinful practice should not be condoned. Instead, persons should be told of God's love for them, and His desire to deliver them from all sinful habits and tendencies.
The way we live should reflect our love for God and our commitment to Him. As Jamaicans, we must live lives that are consistent with the Word of God.
