Cancer fund-raiser to be organised in MoBay

MONTEGO BAY, St James:

The University of the West Indies Open Campus on Orange Street in Montego Bay will play host to a fund-raising effort to support the Jamaica Cancer Society in its fight against this deadly disease.

The event, titled 'Cocktail with the Stars', is organised by the institution's events-management class for the 2012 Easter Term, will be held on Sunday, June 24, between 7 and 9 p.m.

The cover cost for the event is $1,000 and guests will also be treated to live performances from Shawn Campbell, Peter Lloyd, and Jaelessa Ellis. There will also be a keynote address from Marilyn Williams, manager of Jamaica Cancer Society's branch in St Ann.

People can also make further donations or pledges to the Jamaica Cancer Society in the lead-up to the event as the organisers are aiming to raise at least $250,000.
