Weyinmi Efejuku Rose scored with just two seconds remaining to lift Jamaica to a 76-74 victory over Mexico and a place in the second round of Centrobasket 2012.

With the victory, Jamaica also booked a spot in the FIBA Americas Championship for the first time.

Cleveland Cavaliers player, Samardo Samuels, led the way for Jamaica with 23 points and 15 rebounds, Patrick Ewing Jr and Dylan Howell contributed 13 each and Rose 11.

For Mexico, Gustavo Ayon led with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Omar Quintero followed with 11 and Paul Stoll added 10.

Earlier, Mexico had started the game 10-2, with four consecutive points from Ayon, but after Jamaica's timeout they reacted with a 15-0 rally, which turned the score 17-10, with 2:42 of the first quarter remaining.

The tournament is being played at the Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
