WI cricketers are uncommitted

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The demise of West Indies cricket is inextricably linked to a lack of commitment.

Only a few players, like Shiv Chanderpaul, seem to be totally committed. The others seem to be on a roller-coaster ride.

When you are truly committed to doing a task, you will be in favour of good results and rewards. Being truly committed, with burning passion to win matches, should be their number one priority.

Having attained this, cricket stands will not be empty or half full; even with the absence of the powerful and mighty Chris Gayle, who is my favourite batsman.

How long will the Windies continue to dilly-dally? How long will they continue to break the hearts of their cricket-loving fans?

Playing well today and becoming worthless tomorrow makes no sense. They are in and out, in and out. They are very unreliable. We cannot count on them.
