This abstract piece by Simone Vranov-Brown was displayed at the recent 'Anancy Festival' at the Princess Theatre, Sanford, Orlando, as part of the Jamaica 50 celebrations in Florida.

Nineteen-year-old Vranov-Brown, former Jamaica junior tennis champion, who now plays on the Pro Tennis Circuit. She shows in this piece, her concept of the popular Jamaican folklore character, Anancy, who always lands on his feet through his witty and cunning deeds.

The artist perceives him as having a big and brave heart - hence the purple heart. The eye at the centre shows that he is always alert and conscious of his surroundings and always on the prowl for an opportunity.
