Forget expressing your personality in lipstick that comes in a tube. With the advent of violent lips and now funky lips, temporary lip tattoo is taking over Jamaica.

Distributed by Naughty Nails Jamaica, they last for four to eight hours and promise to be safe and non-toxic. With 27 different designs there is one to fit any personality and all of your moods. Applying is super easy too.

All you need is the pattern of your choice, a sharp pair of scissors, some water and a swab of cotton.

1 Clean lips of all cosmetic products. Pop top and bottom tattoo from card.

2 Sit in front of a mirror and open mouth to a relaxed "ahh". Turn the design with the pattern facing your lips and place top lip tattoo on centre of lip and measure to corners of your mouth. The back contains marked guides that will be reflected in the mirror showing you where to cut.

3 Cut the length on both sides using the marked guides on back.

4 Place lip tattoo on the centre of lip again and measure the depth to your lips, staying slightly outside your waterline. Cut the excess using the marked guides. Do not cut the top of the pattern.

5 Remove plastic film from tattoo and firmly place printed sticky side on lip, lining up the centre of the tattoo with the centre of you lip and the corners of your lip.

6 Open to relaxed "ahh". Holding tattoo in place at the corners of mouth, saturate back of tattoo with water until paper slips off leaving tattoo on lips. Use wet cotton ball to smooth out any creases and excess. Do not stretch your lips when applying tattoo. At first, lips will feel 'constrained' but this disappears as the tattoo drys.

7 Allow lip tattoo to set for about five minutes. You can apply light lip balm over tattoo after it sets. Product must not be oil-based as oil will remove tattoo.

8 Repeat steps for bottom lip. Do not cut the bottom of the lower lip tattoo.
