Newly installed chancellor of the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) Dr Herbert Thompson (left) presents Professor Errol Morrison, president of the University of Technology, with an honorary Doctor of Laws from the UCC, in recognition of his contribution to education and the medical sciences. The presentation took place during the UCC's annual commencement ceremony held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on Sunday. Thompson, who succeeds Sir Kenneth Hall who demitted office earlier this year, brings with him more than 30 years experience in tertiary education management, having most recently served as president of the Northern Caribbean University for the period 1991 to 2011. In his new role, he will have special responsibility for the UCC Foundation. On Sunday, 389 students graduated from UCC, receiving master's, bachelor's, associate degrees and diplomas in various disciplines. - contributed
