The Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) will present Jamaica 50th anniversary awards to three women and three organisations for their contributions in education, health and social outreach. Founding chair of the Jamaican chapter of the WLI, Pat Ramsay, will also be awarded.

The individuals to be awarded are Professor Maureen Samms-Vaughan, Dr Deanna Ashley, and Dr Elizabeth Ward. The organisations are Children First Agency, the Women's Centre of Jamaica Foundation and Rise Life Management Services.

Chair of WLI Marcia Erskin notes that these organisations and individuals, "have demonstrated sustained commitment to their chosen fields, made significant impact and continuous contribution to improving the circumstances of the wider community and inspired and motivated others to give back to society".

Proceeds from the Awards Ceremony and Champagne Reception to be held at the Wyndham Kingston hotel on Wednesday will benefit the Voluntary Organisation for the Upliftment of Children, an organisation the WLI has been involved with for over nine years.
