Experience Jamaica one attraction at a time

Jamaicans are being invited to rediscover the beauty and magic of their island home through the 'Experience Jamaica' campaign. Residents can access great deals and savings of up to 50 per cent at some 60 participating hotels and attractions.

'Experience Jamaica' is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Tourism, the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association and was conceived in 2009. It combines customer education and discounts to enhance local interest in the various facets of the tourism product.

It runs from May to December of each year and according to Horace Phillips who heads 'Experience Jamaica', the response has always been overwhelming since it is a good way of promoting Jamaica to Jamaicans.

"Destination Jamaica is world class; and with the Experience Jamaica campaign we have offered an incentive for residents of Jamaica, Jamaican citizens, the diplomatic community and other international residents to discover Jamaica for themselves," Phillips said.

Small and large hoteliers and tourism interests can participate to stimulate business that can benefit the residents and by extension those participating in the promotions. "Jamaicans can feel welcome in their own country. They too can be tourists in their own country and experience the wonderful attractions that the island has to offer," Phillips said.

Experience Jamaica also aims to accentuate the already known position that destination Jamaica is good for Jamaicans and offers a variety of experiences that locals have not yet tested.

"Jamaicans receive the same services that are offered like everyone else. Nothing is trimmed. They can have a vacation in their beautiful country Jamaica," Phillips said.
