Professor Stephen Vasciannie, who was earlier this year appointed Jamaica's ambassador to the United States, is scheduled to leave the island for his assignment today.
In a recent interview with The Gleaner, Vasciannie said he "likes challenges" and was looking forward to the task at hand.
"I've been working in the fields of international law and international relations for some time," he said. "I'm looking forward to representing my country in this way and finding the most efficient way of conveying Jamaica's message to the world. I'll be looking to maximise the potential of brand Jamaica."
Jamaica wishes the new ambassador a safe flight!
