Hundreds of persons gathered at Sabina Park in Kingston yesterday for the District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The gathering, which started on Friday and ended yesterday under the theme 'Safeguard your Heart', saw persons being inspired through drama pieces, songs and other items.

Blessed and encouraged

Andrew Meikle, who was in attendance, said that he felt immensely blessed and encouraged to maintain a close relationship with the Lord.

"It was great, very great, and what stood out to me is that we have to be careful, what we entertain in our hearts, because Jehovah knows what's in our heart, and He is the only one who is able to keep us," he said.

Charles Corbin, who delivered the sermon, spoke on the topic 'Never let Your Heart become Terrified'. He told the audience that maintaining a clean heart was integral in one's Christian life.

"According to the Scriptures, we have to be able to imitate Jesus in every aspect of our lives, and that includes being courageous. We all face challenges and we are attacked by the enemy in various ways, but we have to maintain a courageous heart and stand firm," he encouraged.

"We cannot be weaklings, the devil likes when we become panicked and fearful, but I assure you that you are not alone. So there is no need for our hearts to become terrified, because panic and fear further leads to bad decisions as our thinking is blurred. So we have to be strong," Corbin said.
