The Grabham Society of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists on Saturday, July 14 honoured two outstanding Jamaican health professionals, Dr Wendell Guthrie, well-known Kingston-based obstetrician and gynaecologist, and Emma Hutchinson, retired matron of the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston.

Dr Guthrie was honoured for pioneering non-invasive surgery for women in Jamaica, a method which has saved on recovery time and resources for the affected women.

Matron Hutchinson was honoured for her outstanding contribution to the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

They were both honoured with the society's Golden Jubilee Awards at an anniversary banquet celebration held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, Kingston, to observe the society's role in independent Jamaica.
