JUTC to provide special service for Independence celebrations

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will be extending its services throughout the Jamaica 50 Independence celebrations.

The company has established a 'Park & Ride' service for patrons attending the various events at the National Stadium.

The Park & Ride locations are at Up Park Camp and Jamaica College. The cost of this service is $200 for adults, and children under 12 are free.

JUTC Communications Manager Reginald Allen said the company would be doing its best to ensure there is an adequate number of buses throughout the festive period.

In light of the festivities, buses will be available from approximately 5 a.m. until beyond midnight. This is because the events which will be held at the Golden Jubilee Village are scheduled to finish after midnight.

"The time as to when buses will end operations for the day cannot be confirmed as it varies (depending) on the number of persons at the Golden Jubilee Village," Allen explained.

The JUTC's specialised service for commuters with disabilities will not be exempt from the Park & Ride service, and the regular daily service will not be interrupted.
