Below are reactions by readers of www.jamaica-gleaner.com to yesterday's lead story: 'Troupe set free: gun ammunition charges against MoBay deputy mayor dropped'.

Failed parent

I am saddened that a man can be in such a celebratory mood ... even though his son will languish in prison for crimes committed under his roof. You, sir, have failed as a parent!

No grinning

I totally agree with your point. I wouldn't be even smiling, knowing that an illegal firearm was found in the house of this man/citizen/public figure/supposed-to-be-community role model's house.

Don't blame parents

Not all parents, whose children are behind bars, have failed. For if I am so foolish in my supposed-to-be-wiser-years and commit a crime, all punishment would be a consequence of my failure to live by my parents' teachings, and not my parents failure to instil the right values in me. So I am not sure your condemnation of Mr Troupe is justified.

Nothing to celebrate

He's not celebrating, it is his constituents. He has not a thing to celebrate except his freedom from prison.

Backward country

Jamaica will remain a backward country as long as politicians and the rich can just walk free. Completely disgusting!

Lottery scam forgotten?

Mikey is already a licensed firearm holder; therefore, his son, who is an adult, will take the rap for it. The bigger question is ...what about the scamming charges? This was what the arrest was all about in the first place.

Mini Dudus case

This case was a mini Dudus! But tell you all what, it will grow up to be a papa Dudus. Just watch.
