Manchester ready for downpour

MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

THE PARISH of Manchester has put plans in place to deal with the possible effects of tropical storm Ernesto.

Brenda Ramsay, chairman of the Manchester Parish Council said critical players in disaster preparedness have already been alerted in the parish.

"Lejaun Powell our parish disaster coordinator has been on top of things, therefore we are not anticipating any major problems. We are all set in the event of any disaster," Ramsay told The Gleaner.

She said the parish council has done extensive drain cleaning throughout the parish in preparation for the hurricane season.

"All our drains have been cleaned and we are in good stead when it comes to our drains," Ramsay said.

"All the respective agencies are on high alert and ready for what may come.".

Checks with the fire department, the Police and the Manchester Red Cross have revealed that all are in place to deal with any threat posed by Ernesto.
