Yesterday marked the launch of the Mayberry Investments Limited Junior Tennis Championship 2012 junior tennis series, which runs from Saturday to Sunday at the Liguanea Club, New Kingston.

The competition starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and the finals are set to begin on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The competition will engage approximately 90 players - boys and girls in the age-group categories 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. The players will not only be playing for a trophy, which is the grand prize, but also points that will add to their national ranking.

Mayberry Investment expressed not only being proud to sponsor tennis, but that they also see this as an opportunity to be involved in sports that do not get as much attention as football, cricket and netball.

"Mayberry Investments Limited is proud to be a partner in tennis," said Dennise Williams, marketing manager of Mayberry Investments.

"While not one of Jamaica's most dominant sports, its importance is steadily growing," she added. "Focusing on junior players is an investment that will reap dividends in the future. This is our contribution to nation building."
