The Jamaicans sealed their sprinting dominance with a world record run in the men's 4x100m final after wrapping up the bronze in the women's 4x400m; but of course you knew that already.

It was truly an amazing Olympic experience and I'm trying hard to decide between London 2012 and the Beijing Olympics back in 2008, as to which was the greater experience.

Congratulations to all of our Olympians, those who won medals, got personal and season bests, those who donned the national colours and even those who didn't get a chance to compete this time.

Big ups to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Usain Bolt, who were the most impressive this time around. Special mention to Yohan Blake, who showed how much of a force he is here in his first Olympic Games and also to Veronica Campbell-Brown, who despite a rough year, came here and ran her heart out for her country; true champion.

I couldn't continue without also paying homage to the likes of Warren Weir, someone who I have watched develop over the years into an Olympic bronze medallist and Hansle Parchment, my 'Parish-ina' - a very bright one for the future.

Look out also for Kimberly Williams and Traves Smikle in the years to come.

It's been my pleasure and thank you guys for the kind words of encouragement and support through your emails and Twitter mentions.

Big up the team

Big ups to the hard working team back home. This was a true team effort, so from my colleagues on the number one sports desk in Jamaica to the crew at online and radio and the entire newsroom in Kingston as well as the good folks at our sister publication The Voice here in London, a big THANK YOU to you all. It was your job to make me look good and you did a good job at it LOL.

The Gleaner embarked on an ambitious project 14 months ago, called 'Daegu to London' as we looked to pair the two championships in an unprecedented multi-platform coverage of track and field. It has been a resounding success and we must underline that this is as a result of your tremendous support.

Thanks to our partners PUMA, Supreme Ventures Limited, Scotiabank, Western Union and Digicel.

See you in Moscow? Of course we will.
