Don't you just love how everything has come to a virtual halt while we celebrate our 50th anniversary and the glory of the Olympics? I do. Asafa Powell might have disappointed us again, but I got over him a long time ago. He's, after all, a mere man; and men will disappoint us at some point. They are wired to disappoint. So, if he's too scared to go under the knife for the surgery that would make him perform better, while we come close to a heart attack each time he flounders on the track, so be it.

Bolt is our first real superstar. Bob Marley had to die to get all that prominence; this wonderful country boy is just sheer magic. I am not a Veronica Campbell-Brown fan, she just does not appear as warm-hearted as the pocket rocket. Good thing I don't love any of them for their personalities, I like their talents. But, that aside, what the hell is going to happen to Montego Bay?

That town seems to be going to hell in a hand basket with crooks and scammers at every turn, and the minister of national security is waiting on another report! Good God man, let's do something. Take decisive action. Western Union has taken its action. The good are suffering for the bad and their political representative, rather than calling on Montegonians to stop breaking the law.

And how do you like the people who are in charge of the Kingston Public Hospital? They have now started yet another committee to look at what's wrong with the facility. This was sparked following this newspaper's brilliant expose on them some weeks ago. Now, I am so darned tired of committees, I could scream. Why not just ask our probing reporter to share his notes from the stories? Saving time and energy seem to be anathema to Jamaican leaders.

Then, what a thing with this woman from Mandeville who is said to be between 29 and 32 and had a 17-year-old boyfriend. If the situation were not so grave, I'd take her for my role model. Minus the six 'pickney'. What was she thinking? In all seriousness, she must have been a piece of work, to keep a mere child interested. And now that it's over, this child will have the rest of his life in jail to think about the error of his ways. Great ending to a love story don't you agree? Never a dull moment here on the rock.
