NEGRO AROUSED STANDS TALL

TWENTY YEARS ago when Jamaica marked its 30th anniversary of Independence, the great Edna Manley was commissioned to do a statue as a dedication to the workers of Jamaica and the workers' movement, which was born in 1938.

Now, as the country continues its celebration of 50 years of Independence, the statue Negro Aroused remains on the Kingston waterfront, a reminder of the struggles of Jamaican workers over the years.
