THE EDITOR, Sir:
In his article 'So many gods, so little reason', published Wednesday, August 15, Dr Ethon Lowe asked many questions but failed to prescribe an alternative.
I assert that there is indeed a God. I met that God more than 15 years ago and I am happy I did. I wish I could provide Dr Lowe with all the possible reasons why tragedies come upon people at times. Of one thing I am certain, though: God loves all people. The God of the Universe holds no man or woman in high esteem above another.
God's ultimate love was shown through Jesus Christ. If I could argue, God could identify with that mother, in your article, who lost her only child as God gave up His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, so that men could live. Today, that Jesus is alive and well, and the scripture tells us that He is before His Father making intercession on our behalf.
I don't talk religion as religion enslaves people. What I am interested in is seeing people having a relationship with God. Nothing is wrong if Lowe wants to ask questions, but I put it to him that with all the problems and mishaps that life brings, it does not change the existence of God. The Bible tells us that He sends rain on the just and the unjust.
Life is complex, but in the complexities of life, one can find God. I humbly implore you to consider reading the Bible and getting to know the God of the Universe, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
