Scores of children from across the country - and even from overseas - chose New Generation Camp as the place to be this summer.
Camps were held at Happy Hills, New Generation's campsite on the Cranbrook Estate in St Ann, overlooking the sea.
One of the highlights of camp is the experience of sleeping in tents, and thankfully, the heavy rains stayed away. Four different camps were held - Leadership Training (for young people 14 years and over), Ultimate Series (for older teens), Discovery Series (for younger teens) and Great Adventure Camp (for children eight years and over).
New Generation Camp is a deliberate mix of children from the rural and urban areas as well as children from the inner city. It was a joy to see them all working and playing together, with no barriers, and forming lasting friendships.
There were many great experiences such as an impromptu violin performance at the children's campfire night from the teenage son of acclaimed musician Jon Williams. It was an awesome experience for these eight- to 10-year-olds. There were the usual games and lots of fun, trips to the river and activities with Chukka Cove.
The campers were challenged in many ways - to put aside their differences and work together, to decide on the values that are important, and to learn how to live, serve and lead as Jesus did. It was a time worth remembering. Can't wait for next year!
