Why reinvent the wheel on Patois?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am totally supportive of Glenn Tucker's informed view in his guest column of Wednesday, August 31, titled 'Stop this 'teach Patois' nonsense!'

Our new society is not only dunce, it is also egotistical and very shallow in almost all forms. I remember quite well that to write a language, one needs to be able to standardise the basic pronunciation of words so as to spell them. This does not exist in Patois.

Apparently, they believe our language greater than Latin, which, as Mr Tucker pointed out, is literally forgotten, not to mention his eminent point as to how to do business with the rest of the world if you cannot communicate with foreigners. So why reinvent the wheel?

I always thought we were an English language country, which also speaks a form of Patois, and not the other way around. Apparently, I was misled.
