All-inclusives hurt tourism

THE EDITOR, Sir:

With regard to the Hospitality Jamaica story, 'MoBay craft markets neglected after Jamaica 50 celebrations, say traders', it is indeed a shame.

The Hip Strip is deteriorating very quickly and rats are running rampant, especially by the crafts market. All-inclusives have NOT really helped this area, and there needs to be a section of the Fair Competition Act to allow small business people to make a living from tourism.

It is totally unfair for all-inclusives to be allowed to run buses and boats for tours. Time to allow the small man to make some money. When that happens, there won't be so much 'harrassment'.

In other places, all-inclusives work with local restaurants so that the wealth can be shared. Tourism Minister Wykeham McNeill, can there be some action here?
