Fire destroys 11-apt house in Clarendon

Fire of unknown origin razed an 11-apartment concrete dwelling yesterday in Lionel Town, Clarendon. According to police reports, the building was owned by the Sugar Industry of Jamaica.

A report from the Constabulary Communication Network said the fire started about 2 a.m. Allegations are that there was a sudden loss of electricity in a section of the house, smoke was seen and the building then became engulfed in flames. The police were alerted and two units from the Lionel Town Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Loss is estimated at J$6.5 million.
