Radio comedy show to begin airing tonight

Wanting to offer people a cheap source of entertainment, radio personality Rennae 'Lady Rennae' Garel has created 'Mek Wi Laugh', the only radio comedy show around.

Garel says the show will start airing today, between 9 and 9:30 p.m. on Fame FM. It will be hosted by comedians Pretty Boy Floyd and Iceman.

She says the show will provide well-needed laughter to the listeners.

"People need more options for a cheap way to have fun. There's a whole lot of undiscovered and under-utilised talent in Jamaica," said Garel, who is also the show's producer.

Without wanting to give away too much about the actual show tonight, Garel says there will be several guests and Iceman will also impersonate popular personalities.

Unlike his appearances on the Ity and Fancy Cat Show, Garel says Iceman will be doing many more characters.

She noted that there will be four segments. The 'News and Reviews' segment will be a comical spin on international and local news, while the 'Hot Seat' will have Pretty Boy Floyd interviewing popular personalities or Iceman impersonating those personalities.

There will also be the 'Songs That Make You Go Hmmm' segment that will be a comical analysis of popular songs. In addition, there will be a six-minute 'Comedy Corner' featuring established and new comedians doing stand-up comedy on air.

Garel added that her main goal is to make people laugh.

"The first thing is laughter. But I believe in it so much that even if I didn't have sponsorship, it would be coming out of pocket. I hope that people will also realise how much talent we have and be interested in coming on board," she said.
