THE EDITOR, Sir:
I represent the 14-year-old girl who is accused of murdering 21-year-old Crissann Wilson and who gave birth recently. Contrary to what was in The Gleaner on August 31, 2012, the Child Development Agency (CDA) was advised by me that she was pregnant and in need of care and protection.
On the last occasion, at court, she was eight months pregnant, and the representative from the CDA must have been aware that she was pregnant. What is represented in the newspaper is erroneous.
A representative from the CDA went to Plutonium Street, and advised Maryto attend their offices in the subsequent week.
In fact, Mary went to the CDA and was told that nobody knew why she was there and why she was told to come there!
She visited my office along with her mother on that occasion, and my legal assistant personally took her to the CDA. So I am at a loss that the CDA can say that it did not know she was pregnant.
Name and address changed to protect my client.
