Leopold Porter served us well

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is with deep regret that I learned of the passing of former mayor of Mandeville, Leopold Porter, JP.

Porter gave years of unwavering and distinguished service to the people as he served as councillor for the Spur Tree division, mayor of Mandeville, and justice of the peace.

The people of Manchester have lost a true son of Jamaica. We thank him and honour him for all his hard work.

I extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

May his soul rest in peace.
