Portmore United has issued a public apology for the stone-throwing incident involving its captain, Adrian Reid, saying it will launch a full investigation into the matter and take appropriate action.

In a release to the media yesterday afternoon, the club's general manager, Clive Marshall, said: "The board and management of Portmore United Football Club wish to apologise to the JFF, PFAJ organisers of the RSPL and all the sponsors, Cavalier Soccer Club, fans in attendance at the game and, specifically, Ms Suzette Martin for the incident involving our player Adrian Reid.

"The club is still conducting internal investigations and we assure all that this widely reported incident in no way, shape or form reflects the values and principles of Portmore United Football Club.

"We, therefore, wish to disassociate the club from any act of violence in our game, verbal or physical, on-field or off-field. We are strong believers in fair play.

"As soon as our probe is complete, appropriate action will be taken accordingly."
