What measures do you think the government should implement in order to deal with delinquent fathers?

No matter the measures implemented, they will not work. Jamaica has a tendency to form policies and committees but without enforcement it is all worthless.

- Kelly Davis

Garnish paycheques where possible; suspend drivers' licence and have them make payments to the courthouses or local police station.

- Dane Rose

Fathers are different from sperm donors. Fathers take care of their responsibilities while sperm donors don't.

- Veleta Dixon Prudent

How about dealing with the irresponsible and worthless mothers first. Last time I check, if you can spend $5,000 on hairstyle you can afford to buy contraceptive.

- Kafele Fairman

Check how some fathers prefer to go to jail than to take care of their children.

- Kafach Bailey

I think the law should lock them up and demand that they pay child support. They should go and sell bag juice downtown to support their children. Also, some Jamaican women should be wise and do a survey on some of these deadbeat fathers, as you will become another victim. Wise up and use contraceptives.

- Arlene Murdock

Do what the US does. Use their NIS number and have a database where it is removed from their paycheques before they get it, the same way they remove taxes and other deductions, then send it to the struggling mothers.

- Aldrean Watson

Be practical about it. Make paternity tests cheaper. Sensitise the family court to enforce paternal visiting rights in the same way how they enforce child maintenance. The family courts are mainly biased against fathers, and many women deny men visiting and still pursue maintenance through the courts.
