The Jamaica Epicurean Escape (JEE) is set for November 29 to December 2 in Richmond, St Ann. Among the many partners so far on board is The Jewel Resorts, which boasts two hotels in the area - The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa and the Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf Resort.

Marcia McDonnough, team leader of The Gleaner-sponsored JEE project, noted that the team was elated at having secured this strategic partnership which promises to be a mutually beneficial one.

"The success of an event such as the JEE relies on the quality of the food that we can offer. The event aims to present the Jamaican food experience and the hotels' chefs are among the best at making this a reality."

As one of the partners, the Jewel Resorts will not only be present at the festival to showcase signature items from their menus, but is also one of the entities with which the festival has partnered to offer special tour packages. The packages will offer overnight to four-night rates and will include accommodation as well as tickets for entry into a combination of the activities taking place.

Charmaine Deane, director of sales for Jewel Resorts, said the resorts were pleased to be associated with JEE in its inaugural staging and with the rich tradition that Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa has built over its two-year history, and with the addition of Jewel Runaway Bay. They are happy to share some of the culinary delights that come out of their kitchens with increasingly discerning palates.

Chef Ravi Anne, executive chef for Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa, is excited about the event and said showcasing culinary creations is a big part of what they do at Jewel Resorts.

Culinary talent variety

"This event gives us an opportunity to share and highlight the talent of both experienced and upcoming chefs on the island and to be a part of something that we know will get better each year!"

Launched in 2010, the Texas-based Aimbridge Hospitality, one of the USA's leading independent hotel management and investment firms, was selected earlier this year to rebrand and manage the Breezes Runaway Bay Beach and Golf Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. They have done so under the new brand Jewel Resorts that raises the bar on what travellers can expect from an all-inclusive experience.

The flagship 250-room Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa, combines an adults-only atmosphere with classic sophistication, fun and the convenience of an all-inclusive, is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The most recent acquisition in June 2012 is the family-friendly Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf Resort, which occupies more than 22 oceanfront acres. The 266 rooms and suites feature some with connecting rooms, each with private balconies or plunge pools overlooking tropical gardens or the freshwater pools.
