SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 was a remarkable day for children within the Waltham Park and Molynes Road area as the Lighthouse Full Gospel Assembly hosted its first back-to-school treat, which was held at the Worship Centre at 87 Waltham Park Road, Kingston.
Parents, among other members of the community, were elated and showed much appreciation to members of the church. Children received a variety of items including bags, books and pens.
According to a report that was issued from the church, they did not manage to meet their target of accomadating 200 children, however, more than 100 students, ranging from ages four to 17, received assistance. In addition, even though many had to be turned away because there were not enough packages to go around, those in attendance behaved themselves in an orderly and exemplary manner, which must be commended.
The report stated that it is their wish to make it an annual event and begged for the support of corporate Jamaica.
