It's close going in the CTL-sponsored tipsters' competition as the leaders flashed past the 200-win mark last Saturday.
Following a prolonged neck-and-neck duel for sole leadership between former champions Orville Clarke (The Gleaner) and Melton Williams (Power 106), the latter inched ahead after spotting four winners last Saturday to be on 203, one ahead of 'Clarkie'.
The race for the last bimonthly (July-August) proved the closet in the history of the competition, with as many as five tipsters dead-heating for the $20,000 prize; each received $4,000.
Going into the final race day for the two-month period, any one of seven tipsters could have won the $20,000 incentive. In the end, it was shared by Power 106, Irie FM, XNews, Compuform, and defending champion TVJ - all with 48 wins.
TVJ is struggling to keep pace with the leaders Power 106 and The Gleaner, having fallen 12 behind Power 106.
The 16 media tipsters are vying for lucrative prize money in both the most wins category and the wagering section, which has not produced a winner in the past two years, and more than $200,000 is up for grabs as a result.
