THE EDITOR, Sir:
Regarding Peter Espeut's 'They have no shame', published Friday, September 14, not only do politicians have no shame, they have no respect for the people of Jamaica. Their corruption is now abundantly transparent, yet they get re-elected. In fact, they have nothing but disdain for the people they took an oath to serve.
The crime situation in Jamaica only survives because our politicians and our police force hug up criminals. The lotto scam and Ponzi schemes could not have survived without their protection.
How can so many guns and so much contraband enter our ports without being discovered? How can police officials and politicians erect multimillion-dollar homes on the hills with such paltry salaries?
I applaud Mr Espeut for exposing the rottenness that is engulfing us.
