History professor Verene Shepherd and Vernon Derby emerged winners of the 2012 Nationwide Cook-off as the broadcasters swapped the radio studio for the kitchen.
Shepherd and Derby, dubbed Team Sankofa, slipped by the E Team of Emily Crooks and Ed Barnes who finished a very close runner-up.
Team Sankofa also won three of the four sectional prizes: creativity and use of local products, most attractive chef's attire, and team synergy.
Crooks and Barnes won the other prize of most effective communicators.
There was no mention, from the judges, of defending champion Cliff Hughes who was paired with attorney-at-law and talk show host Ronald Mason.
