Baseless use of the gender card

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It seems that nobody is 'drawing' the PM's tongue. While the country is sinking deeper into debt, police are killing pregnant women, lotto scammers are creating mayhem, and the International Monetary Fund agreement is still elusive, the PM has, before yesterday's party conference, largely been quiet.

She says she has appointed ministers to do the talking, but isn't she aware that her voice on issues of national importance is equally needed?

Her defence is "it's because I'm a woman". Is Mrs Simpson Miller serious? Women are heading organisations and holding down top jobs across the world, so for the gender card to be played is baseless.

No one is asking the pointed questions at Mrs Simpson Miller because she's a woman; it's because she's the PM.

A WOMAN
