St Thomas going downhill

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I must agree with Wayne Chen, president of the Jamaica Employers' Federation, that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller's address at the 74th annual conference of the People's National Party lacked depth.

The roads in St Thomas have never been worse, not to mention the lack of jobs. Since the Goodyear factory closed down some years ago, the parish's economy has gone downhill. I haven't seen any effort to bring any jobs to my home parish.

I took a trip to St Thomas in April, and I had to ask residents, "Do politicians really campaign here? And did you people really vote?" The roads are just impossible to drive on, and when it rains, it's even worse.
