Ministry sloppy on oversight

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Reports say that the graphic sexual content of the health and family life education curriculum has been sent to some high schools. There are questions that must be asked.

Was the Jamaica Teachers' Association aware of this curriculum? Was the curriculum being used? Were teachers aware of the content? Are our schools being used to teach our children whatever garbage some technocrat may chose to pass on?

The Ministry of Education needs to be aware of its responsibilities. Too often we learn that it is totally unaware of what is happening. The imposition of the picture of the portfolio minister, Ronald Thwaites, on the flag in a widely distributed bookmark is another example of total unawareness.
